I guess since you have taken the time to visit my homepage I should tell you a little bit about myself. I'll start off with the standard bio blurb that seems to inhabit most grad student homepages. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. I am a member of the Interactive Media Lab (IML). My supervisor is Prof. Mark Chignell.
My research interests are centered around the intersection of information retrieval (IR), human factors (in particular human-computer interaction (HCI)), and artificial intelligence (AI). I feel that IR is an excellent application area for both HCI and AI. For my Masters in computer science, at the University of Guelph, I developed a system which used shallow AI techniques to automatically expand queries. I continue to (slowly) improve the performance of the query expansion system.
I am a member of the ACM and SIGIR.
